Grammy Kimsey's Apple Slices

Ingredients
Crust:
1 C shortening
Milk
1 Egg White
2 ½ C Flour
½ tsp. Salt
Filling:
1 C. Crushed Corn Flakes
8 Cups peeled, cored, ¼ inch sliced tart cooking apples (app 8-10 med.)
2/3 C. Granulated or Brown Sugar
1 ½ tsp. Cinnamon
Glaze:
1 C. Powdered Sugar
1-2 TB. Lemon Juice
Method
Heat oven to 350
Cut shortening into flour and salt, until crumbly
Add enough milk to egg white to make 2/3 cup.
Stir into flour mixture with a fork until mixture forms a ball; divide into halves.
Roll out ½ of the dough on lightly floured surface into a 15”x10” rectangle.
Place on bottom of ungreased 15”x10” jelly-roll pan.
Sprinkle crushed cereal on pastry in pan.
Layer apples over cereal and sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over apples.
Roll remaining dough into a 15 ½ “x 10 ½ “ rectangle; place over apples.
Bake for 45 to 55 minutes or until lightly browned
In small bowl, stir together glaze ingredients. Drizzle over warm bars.
