Title Hot Water Crust Pastry
Preparation time A While
Servings ???
Ingredients 2 cups Flour
1 teaspoon Salt
4 tablespoons Lard (or butter...but lard is much better)
5 tablespoons Milk
5 tablespoons Water
Method Sift dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl.

In a saucepan, boil the milk, water and the lard; pour it into the bowl with the flour. Mix until a rough dough forms .

Allow to cool for easier handling. Turn it out onto a worksurface, sprinkle with flour, and knead until smooth. Add a bit more hot water if you need to.

You can use this for standing pies (no pan or mould), or line a pie pan or small spring pan with the dough.

Ideal for chicken pot pie or similar dish.
