Title Ham and Bean Soup 
Preparation time 20 Minutes 
Servings Lots! 
Ingredients 1 bag of dry beans (maybe a lb, I use the mix of about 15 different kinds)
2 smoked pork shanks
3 boneless pork chops (about 1.5 lbs)
1/2 large onion or 1 medium
1 bay leaf
4 quarts water 
Method Open beans and place into large container with lid. Sort and rinse beans.
Add 2 quarts of water to beans and allow to soak overnight, at least 8 hours.
Empty excess water from beans.
Place pork shanks and pork chops into large crock pot. Salt and pepper to taste, about 1 tsp each.
Chop onion and add to crock pot with bay leaf.
Add presoaked beans to crock pot and cover with 2 quarts of water.
Turn crock pot on low and allow to cook for 10 to 12 hours.
